At 00:05, April 11, Guizhou Gen Z Zhao Jiaju arrived at the Visitor Center of Yintai Tourism’s Xikou Xuedou Mountain Scenic Area in Fenghua. He took 18 hours 35 minutes and 45 seconds to complete a 168km cross-country race - Jiangnan 100 Ultra Trail Challenge - of which he was the sole participant, setting a record for the 100-mile cross-country trail run in China.

This race may have only one participant but 4.5 million viewers watched it live, and during this nearly 19-hour-long event, an event support group of more than 100 people were on standby.

After the outbreak of COVID-19, domestic scenic spots were adversely affected by the downturn in the tourism industry. Even among those that were permitted to open, many remained bereft of visitors for a long period of time.

For Yintai Tourism, few visitors did not imply a lowering of visitor service standards. Jointly lending support to this “Ultra Trail Challenge of one” vividly reflected the mindset of sincere service of the Xikou Scenic Area and the organizing committee.

In addition to challenging past records, this special race could also be regarded as an expression of “cherishing spring”, and more so, a tribute to every person’s perseverance and self-discipline during the epidemic.

The “one person” challenge required the support of many behind the scenes. To support this Challenge, the Scenic Area provided its entire suite of services, which were carried out conscientiously according to official standards - departure gate, main stage, timekeeping, starting ceremony, award presentation ...... Nothing was lacking on-site; the referees, supplies on the trail, and medical support, among others, were provided according to the official criteria of the Challenge.

Springtime in April is when Yintai Tourism’s scenic spots boast the most pleasant weather, and wildflowers bloom across mountainous landscapes. With the epidemic having turned the corner, more have begun to travel. Travelers who follow the route of this Challenge will have a chance to enjoy the most amazing art gallery and scenery in spring as far as the eye can see.
