At 10:35am on March 1st, Madam Cao and her family from Shanxi Province, who were on a self-drive tour, became the first group of visitors at Shanxi Yanmen Pass Scenic Area after it reopened upon passing temperature checks, visitor registration, self-service scanning for admission tickets and ID verification. To date, all of Yintai Tourism’s scenic spots have reopened.

After the COVID-19 epidemic broke out, Yintai Tourism, under the unified planning of Yintai Group, immediately activated its contingency plan. From January 24th, its Zhejiang Xikou Xuedou Mountain Scenic Area, Zhejiang Yongkang Fangyan Scenic Area, Shanxi Yanmen Pass Scenic Area and Sanya Yalong Bay International Rose Valley suspended tourism services successively. Although visitors stopped coming during the business suspension, epidemic precautions at the scenic areas continued to be implemented rigorously. Our colleagues in operations, human resources, finance, engineering and construction, and other areas used this time to actively adjust and adapt, comprehensively replaying normal operating service conditions, continuously adjusting and optimizing tourism products, raising service standards, and exploring innovative services so as to lay a solid foundation for when operations will resume.

After the epidemic broke out, all of Yintai Tourism’s scenic areas ceased operations, swiftly activated anti-epidemic precautionary measures, and implemented contingency plans according to their respective conditions to ensure that sterilization and precautions were properly carried out.

As the epidemic began to abate, the scenic areas began to reopen in succession but epidemic precautions continued to be rigorously implemented. Yintai Tourism’s numerous scenic areas adopted a series of measures to ensure that visitors can enjoy themselves safely. These included: Implementing a “clean once and sterilize twice a day” system; scanning the ID of visitors, and wearing masks on contactless admission; social distancing of not less than 1.5 meters; and daily admission at each scenic area set at the scenic area’s single-day maximum capacity of 20%-30%, among others. On February 22, Shanxi Yanmen Pass Scenic Area, together with Meituan and 51 renowned domestic scenic areas jointly issued a self-discipline pact to take anti-epidemic precautions.

In addition to creating a safe and healthy tourism environment, all scenic areas actively improved their respective tourism products, and raised service standards according to their own characteristics, and explored new marketing methods. For instance, Yanmen Pass Scenic Area and the OTA platform planned a scenic area product pre-sale event, and launched a 50% promotion on a limited number of online pre-sale admission tickets; Xikou Xuedou Mountain Scenic Area launched a 1+1 family product, offering free admission for children and a 50% discount for adults, as well as carrying out pre-sales at all OTA collaboration platforms, among others.

All scenic areas also attempted “technology + tourism”. For instance, Yanmen Pass Scenic Area rolled out a range of services including a free online 360° VR “Yanmen Pass tour” experience, a tour of the scenic area accompanied by a virtual host, and others; Zhejiang Yongkang Fangyan Scenic Area launched an online “Pray to Hu Gong at the Lantern Festival” and other activities.

The epidemic has had an enormous impact on the tourism industry but we believe that as long as we seize development opportunities during a crisis, we will be able to continue to innovate and change. Yintai Tourism will be able to achieve bigger and better growth.
